Model: Cath Afterdark

This was our first shibari photoshoot with Cath Afterdark. The hashira, a vertical wooden post, became the focal point of both the composition and the ropework. The sequence begins on the floor, with Cath’s arms gradually raised above her head, and moves through a series of inversions around the post.
The photographs follow the transition from seated positions to inverted suspension, alternating wider views with close-ups of the relationship between body, ropes and structure. Towards the end, Cath returns to the tatami, where the ropework develops around one leg folded into a futomomo tie.
